Over the course of the summer, we’ve been sharing photos from among the previous month’s entries to our annual Picture This: Your Great Outdoors photo contest on Facebook and asking our followers, “Which one is your favorite?”
This is just a fun way of sharing some of the amazing entries and doesn’t have to do with the official judging process, but you can vote for your favorite by “liking” it or commenting on Facebook. Not a Facebook user? Let us know your top pick in the comments below.
And there’s still time to enter the contest with your own beautiful nature photography—the deadline is September 30, so don’t delay!
I loved the owl shot spying with his one eye.
I love the river otter! I love how it is looking right at the camera and the old tree is cool!
Dragon fly… up close and personal….
The owl, such character!
My favorite is the owl . I love the position of the owl coming out of the tree. For a split second it looked to be part of the tree.
Barred owl is most amazing! All entries are great, but common! The owl has no idea that someone spots her and captures her expression. A once in a lifetime picture!
The River Otter is my favorite. The otters expression is inquisitive and interested in the observer. The otter is framed appealingly by the driftwood and the ripples of the water.
Peregrine Falcon ,May more come by my home area to help with the rabbit overpopulation!
Barred Owl © Van Lam is my favorite!
I’ll go with the Owl. It’s cute & creative!
The Barred Owl peaking out of the tree is definitely my favorite. GREAT picture!!!
I love the owl … keeping an eye on the photographer.
The Monarch Chrysalis © Oscar Esposito, because it hints at hidden beauty – a mystical experience!
The Barred Owl. This owl looks just as curious as the photographer must has been while waiting to take the picture.
I like the owl best ‘cos its a bit subtle, but they are all very good
Thank you for avoiding facebook ! ! !
Gotta vote for the owl peeking out of the tree. Just too bloody cute!!
Love all of these photos showing Massachusetts’ amazing wildlife. Thanks to all our patient photographers!
I agree. I LOVE the barred owl photo because it is unexpected
I love the owl’s camouflage!
I kind of love the river otter!
I love the owl in the tree. They are all so very good, but the owl is my choice.
The barred owl photo is spectacular!
I like the Barred Owl © Van Lam best and peregrine falcon second best.
The photo of the owl is amazing and adorable! You can’t look away.
Love the owl!!
Loved the owl–hands down!
The owl picture is fantastic!
All are beautiful photos but my favorite is the Halloween Pennant, dragonfly. The way it’s perched on the flower seeds of the grass and being able to see it’s head. Thank you
The owl photo is my 1st choice, with the river otter being a close 2nd.
Monarch Chrisalis (O. Esposito) and Barred Owl (Van Lam) are both exquisite photographs. I love the intimacy of them both.
I think the Barred Owl is the stronger of the two because of the interaction between the owl and photographer is so intriguing. You get a strong sense of their curiosity in one another.
I love the owl most!
definitely the owl
All photos were beautiful but the owl photo is pretty spectacular. Seeing just one half of the face as if the head is literally coming out of the tree. It’s an amazing image.
The owl photo is my favorite
Chrysalis. A moment in time captured.
The owl because it’s humorous and captivating
