Wildflowers and Watercolors

This past weekend, our first offering of “Wildflowers and Watercolors” was blessed by unexpectedly lovely weather. The original forecast was for a chilly, wet day, but the rain held off, and participants were able to get out to walk the Martin Burns Wildlife Management Area. The focus was on observing wildflowers, complemented by learning the natural history of the flowers from teacher-naturalists Meg and Victor Atkins.

Program participants were also able to study and be inspired by a range of botanical samples brought in by Meg and Victor in case the walk in Martin Burns was rained out.

Once back at Joppa Flats, the pens and pencils came out for sketching, and then the watercolors to add color. The program was so popular that students stayed late to keep painting, so we’ve extended the class time for the next offerings this summer. Join us!
