Hey Everyone out there in the real world! Wow, its hard to believe that our session 3 is just about over! But we’ve got a closing campfire to get through tonight first, and I’ll bet its going to be a good one!
Before I forget, just a quick reminder that I’ll be holding “Coffee with the Director” tomorrow morning at 9:15 if you’d like to come by and have some coffee and a muffin and chat about Wildwood. Otherwise, make sure you’re here for the closing at 10:00. Acadia Trek families, the trekkers will be released at 11:00, so you can get here for that time.
Speaking of trekkers, I had a couple really great updates from them including a couple pictures. On Wednesday they wrote, “Greeting from Acadia! Amazing day out on the ocean sea kayaking from Bar Island to Burnt Porcupine Island where we ate lunch. We saw a baby bald eagle, porpoises, and seals (very up close!). It was awesome! Spent the afternoon swimming on Sandbar Beach until the tide came in and then exploring the downtown. All enjoyed a good time.”
I did get a good text from the Adirondacks canoe trip too, with an all’s well, we’re having a great time note.
The LITs and JCs are all doing really well and busy on a number of projects across camp.
I had a couple comments after the last post asking about the two pictures of a toad and a bird’s nest. The toad was a really fat female American Toad that I found in the parking lot one morning, and the nest with the three eggs is a song sparrow nest, down by the waterfront. I took a look at it again today and two of the eggs had hatched! One more to go!
So, here’s a few more images from around camp including the exciting climax of the “Taking Flight” IG this morning, when those campers got to make their own “wings” and test them out by jumping off the dock. To my knowledge, none of them were able to circle back around for a dry landing! Oh well, its all in the name of science, uh, I mean fun! Also, you’ll see some of the results of our berry-picking PBJ this morning too. We made blueberry cake for dinner – Yum!
See you tomorrow – enjoy your final night – we will!
