{"id":9108,"date":"2017-05-11T12:28:43","date_gmt":"2017-05-11T16:28:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/?p=9108"},"modified":"2017-05-11T12:38:01","modified_gmt":"2017-05-11T16:38:01","slug":"latest-news-re-trailsides-budget-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/latest-news-re-trailsides-budget-woes\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest News Re: Trailside&#8217;s Budget Woes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you may know, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/blue-hills-trailside-museum\">Blue Hills Trailside Museum<\/a>, which is own by the state but managed by Mass Audubon, has been facing serious budget challenges.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">Governor Baker cut the $500,000 committed\u00a0to Trailside for its current fiscal year. On top of that, he did not <\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">propose<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\"> any money <\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">for<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\"> the museum to operate for the next year.<\/span><span class=\"x_xeop\">\u00a0The House budget included a small, $25,000<\/span>\u00a0appropriation for Trailside (a far cry from the requested $500,000).<\/p>\n<p>Now the budget is with the Senate. Senator Walter Timilty will file\u00a0an amendment requesting the $500,000 for Trailside. We need all of the senators to support him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Search\/FindMyLegislator\">contact your state senator<\/a> as say: &#8220;Please support Senator Walter Timilty&#8217;s amendment to give full funding for the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have a personal Trailside story to tell, do share that as well.
