On top of that, he did not <\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">propose<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\"> any money <\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">for<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\"> the museum to operate for the next year.<\/span><span class=\"x_xeop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">We are not giving up\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_xeop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">We&#8217;re working to restore funding b<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">ut we need your help to do it.\u00a0Call your <a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Search\/FindMyLegislator\">local state legislator<\/a> and tell them what Trailside means to you. Better yet, write them a letter. We\u2019ve been told that a handwritten letter is even more powerful than a phone call!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">It can say something to the effect of:<\/span><span class=\"x_xscx66999119\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_xparagraph\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">Dear _______,<\/span><span class=\"x_xscx66999119\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xparagraph\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">My name is ________ and I live in ________. I was very disappointed to hear that funding has been cut for the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.\u00a0<i>[Include personal story here, for example, My daughter went to camp for years and learned to appreciate nature because of their program. With proper funding, Trailside:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">welcomes more than 100,000 visitors a year to the Blue Hills Reservation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">provides environmental education to more than 200 schools<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">offers<\/span> <span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">a popular summer day camp program<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">provides<\/span><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\"> universally accessible nature trails, including sensory exhibits and self-guided audio tours so that everyone may enjoy the natural history exhibits<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">is the home of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/blue-hills-trailside-museum\/snowy-owl-project\">Snowy Owl Project<\/a>\u00a0led by <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/in-your-words-norman-smith\/\">Norman Smith<\/a>, which has become a national model for safely removing owls from airports and gaining a better understanding of these elusive birds<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_xparagraph\"><span class=\"x_xnormaltextrun\">In response to Baker\u2019s budget cuts, Mass Audubon has found it necessary to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/news-events\/press-room\/2017\/state-budget-cuts-affect-blue-hills-trailside-museum\">reduce services and personnel<\/a> at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.\u00a0With your help, we hope to restore funding for the operation of Trailside.
