These champions are all ages and have all levels of experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their first initiative was a June Beacon Hill Lobby Day, where 13 legislators met with groups of champions in person and virtually to find out why we believe it is so important to fund nature-based climate solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2022\/10\/lobbyday.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2022\/10\/lobbyday.jpg 750w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2022\/10\/lobbyday-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2022\/10\/lobbyday-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption>June 22 Lobby Day at the State House after meeting with Senator Cyr\u2019s staff. For those who couldn\u2019t attend, all meetings are recorded and can be watched anytime!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each statewide monthly call always has one advocacy action everyone can take to make an impact. So far champions have had the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide comments to MA Dept of Energy Resources (DOER) speaking up in support of letting cities and towns require fossil-fuel free construction&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Weigh in with state Senators to urge them to support investments in open space, recreation, ecological restoration, and climate adaptation in the Economic Development bill.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create Twitter accounts in preparation for future<a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/policy-advocacy\/advocacy-action-center\"> Action Alerts<\/a> to state legislators.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Urge the governor to ask him to sign the Climate Bill that would ramp up clean energy production and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s Next<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mass Audubon Policy &amp; Advocacy staff are in the process of developing the organization\u2019s legislative and policy priorities for the 2023-2024 legislative session, which runs from January 2023 through the end of July 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=FL2s4J3Wqk6PAn7P8ogjL6c5k0244hVOu1i-9gmUA-lUNVJGUTkzRTZEMkJOV09UQUdFQ0ZEWFZSQSQlQCN0PWcu\">seeking input<\/a> from all Climate Champions (current and future) on these priorities getting input from all Climate Champions on our state Legislative Priorities for the next session.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This month, our focus is on getting input on local climate issues and projects for the next year as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-involved\/take-action\/vote\">encouraging everyone to vote<\/a> in collaboration with The Environmental Voter Project.&nbsp;We will also offer a training on how and where to recruit for more Climate Champions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learn More<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone can be a Climate Champion&#8211;whether you have no time and a lot of experience, or lots of time and no experience, or somewhere in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/policy-advocacy\/climate-champions-program\">Find out more and sign up &gt;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This spring, we launched Climate Champions, a grassroots network of volunteers working together to speak with one collective, powerful voice.
