Then the decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/politicallandscapes\/help-protect-our-coasts\/\">allow offshore oil and gas leasing off US coastlines<\/a>. And most recently they created a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/19\/climate\/epa-coal-emissions.html\">new rule<\/a> that would give state\u2019s the authority to set coal emission standards and, in doing so, rendering the Environmental Protection Agency ineffective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you throw up your hands in despair and start searching for\nfunny cat videos, know that the headlines are only telling part of the story.\nLawyers have been working tirelessly to block the rollbacks. In fact, according\nto the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.columbia.edu\/climatechange\/2019\/06\/07\/u-s-climate-change-litigation-in-the-age-of-trump-year-two-a-new-sabin-center-working-paper\/\">Columbia Law School<\/a>, \u201cno climate change-related regulatory rollback brought before\nthe courts has yet survived legal challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While that\u2019s happening at a federal level, Mass Audubon and its partners continue to speak up for robust and innovative policy in Massachusetts. For example, we were instrumental in the passage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/politicallandscapes\/climate-adaptation-legislation-passed\/\">Environmental Bond Bill<\/a>. We work directly with municipalities through the state\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/advocacy\/shaping-the-future-of-your-community\/current-projects\/massachusetts-municipal-vulnerability-preparedness-mvp\">Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program<\/a>, which fosters climate adaptation practices at the local level. And last week we <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/politicallandscapes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2019\/06\/S10-letter-of-support.pdf\">submitted written testimony<\/a> in support of S.10 An Act providing for climate change adaptation infrastructure investments in the Commonwealth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay informed about climate change policy by signing up for our\nweekly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/news-events\/signup-for-an-e-newsletter\">Beacon Hill Round Up email<\/a>.
