{"id":10997,"date":"2018-05-22T15:14:29","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T19:14:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/?p=10997"},"modified":"2018-05-29T10:34:19","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T14:34:19","slug":"inspiring-action-one-video-at-a-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/inspiring-action-one-video-at-a-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspiring Action, One Video at a Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As one of Mass Audubon&#8217;s designated Climate Action Centers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/arcadia\/about\/climate-action-center\">Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary<\/a> has a goal of increasing people&#8217;s understanding of how climate change will impact us locally and inspire action.<\/p>\n<p>One strategy to accomplish this goal is to engage college students studying in the Pioneer Valley via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/arcadia\/get-involved\/climate-video-contest\">Climate Video Contest<\/a>. Students were asked to create short videos to help educate and inspire action, and the winner would receive a $1,000 prize,\u00a0generously sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DeansBeansOrganicFairTradeCoffee\/?fref=mentions\">Dean&#8217;s Beans Organic Coffee Company.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were many great submissions, but the video that took first place was one by <strong>Emelyn Chiang<\/strong>, a sophomore majoring in Engineering at Smith College.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8dxHCuDhnRE?rel=0\" width=\"700\" height=\"455\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We also want to congratulate <strong>Claire Seaman<\/strong> and <strong>Rebecca Grossman<\/strong> for their video, which came in second place.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KZ07bnpK3pY?rel=0\" width=\"700\" height=\"455\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nLearn more about how Mass Audubon is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/climate-change\/what-mass-audubon-is-doing\">leading by example<\/a> and what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/climate-change\/how-you-can-help\">you can do to make an impact<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As one of Mass Audubon&#8217;s designated Climate Action Centers, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary has a goal of increasing people&#8217;s understanding of how climate change will impact us locally and inspire action.
