In January, the ribbon was figuratively cut on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/tidmarsh\">Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary<\/a>. And that is just the beginning, thanks to the leadership of Lauren Kras, Sanctuary Director.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren comes to Mass Audubon from New Hampshire where she served as the President of the Seacoast Chapter of NH Audubon and Conservation Easement Steward at the New Hampshire Forest Society. An avid birdwatcher, conservationist, photographer, and hiker, Lauren holds a Master of Science degree in Plant Biology from the University of New Hampshire where she studied rare, threatened, and endangered plant species.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10864\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10864\" class=\"wp-image-10864 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2018\/04\/TidmarshSpringKras-750.jpg\" alt=\"Alder in bloom at Tidmarsh\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2018\/04\/TidmarshSpringKras-750.jpg 750w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2018\/04\/TidmarshSpringKras-750-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2018\/04\/TidmarshSpringKras-750-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alder in bloom at Tidmarsh<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Putting her skills to work immediately she began the sanctuary\u2019s sandplain restoration, opening more trails, and working with members of the community to share this beautiful sanctuary and programs with people of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n<p>See the progress for yourself this spring. In addition to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-involved\/volunteer\/statewide-volunteer-day\">Statewide Volunteer Day<\/a>\u00a0projects and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/program-catalog#results:sanctuary=33:keywords=herring\">weekly Herring Walks<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingobservatory.org\/\">Living Observatory<\/a>, there will be a family-friendly Open House on Saturday, June 2.
