Mass Audubon&#8217;s 2017 Annual Report shares just some of their stories. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/news-events\/publications\/annual-report\">Read the entire report<\/a> and take a look at just some of the year&#8217;s accomplishments, by the numbers.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not too late to be a nature hero. Most recently, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton and Northampton installed a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/following-the-sun-at-arcadia\/\">new tilting, rotating solar panel<\/a> that uses a tracker that follows the sun across the sky.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9932\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/10\/Arcadia-Solar-Tracker-front-retouched-e1507647372316.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"485\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>2<\/h3>\n<p>Freedom chairs (think: mountain bike crossed with a wheelchair) donated to two wildlife sanctuaries for rugged exploration.<\/p>\n<h3>15<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/young-explorers\/explore-a-sanctuary\/nature-play-areas\">Nature Play Areas<\/a> now established at wildlife sanctuaries, including three new ones, where kids can jump on stumps, build with sticks, and make music.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10238\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/ipswichnatureplay.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/ipswichnatureplay.jpg 725w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/ipswichnatureplay-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/ipswichnatureplay-624x417.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>14,071<\/h3>\n<p>The number of volunteers who generously help Mass Audubon throughout the year.<\/p>\n<h3>2,500<\/h3>\n<p>Somerville students in grades K\u20138 who were able to enjoy Drumlin Farm produce in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/get-outdoors\/wildlife-sanctuaries\/drumlin-farm\/news-events\/farm-to-school-in-somerville\">school cafeterias<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>300<\/h3>\n<p>Supporters who joined Mass Audubon for the March for Science on Boston Common on April 22, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10240\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/marchforscience.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/marchforscience.jpg 725w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/marchforscience-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2017\/12\/marchforscience-624x405.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>306<\/h3>\n<p>Number of acres protected this year, with the support of generous individuals, families,\u00a0 businesses, communities, and public and private partners.<\/p>\n<h3>1,500<\/h3>\n<p>People in Revere, Winthrop, and the Boston Harbor Islands that learned about protecting coastal waterbirds through an urban outreach partnership between Mass Audubon&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/our-conservation-work\/wildlife-research-conservation\/coastal-waterbird-program\">Coastal Waterbird Program<\/a>, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation\u00a0 and the National Park Service.<\/p>\n<h3>4<\/h3>\n<p>The number of stars (the highest rating) Charity Navigator has awarded Mass Audubon for four consecutive years.<\/p>\n<h3>525 feet<\/h3>\n<p>The length of the new and improved <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.massaudubon.org\/yourgreatoutdoors\/a-long-winding-boardwalk\/\">Stony Brook<\/a> boardwalk.
