Take 5: Birds of the Rainbow

Spring is in the air and all of Massachusetts is eagerly awaiting the return of bright, beautiful color to the drab, grey-brown landscape of winter. In that spirit, here are five colorful birds to look for as the weather warms to make your day a little more colorful.

    These are beautiful photos! What type of camera are you using? How much are these running? In Chicago (where we lived until last September), I used to lure in the hummers with red salvia plants, and put out the liquid sugar (the recipe is from the Cornell U or Audubon site) in the great bird feeders. How common are the hummingbirds in Jamaica Plain neighborhood in Boston? Just wondering.
    When do the Ruby-throated hummingbirds tend to come into Boston? Thank you! I want to be ready.
