budHave you starting hearing and seeing signs of spring in your neighborhood? Now that we’ve “sprung” an hour ahead, it’s time to take advantage of the extra sunlight and discover the seasonal changes outside!

Saturday, March 19

Rhode Island Duck Bonanza
7:30 am–5 pm | Adults
We will explore ponds, coves, the Barrington River, and Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. This trip is a great opportunity for you to practice your duck ID skills!

Naturalist Walk
1–3 pm | Adults
We’ll cover habitats across Drumlin Farm and follow the seasonal changes as the year progresses. Registration is not required: contact [email protected] to receive details for each walk.

 

Afternoon Chores and More (Waitlist)
3:30–5 pm | Ages 4+ w/Adult
It’s chore time! We will feed chickens and collect eggs, then bring hay to the sheep, goats, and cows. After we finish up we’ll treat ourselves to a farm-fresh snack.

Chickadee Birders: The Sky Dance of the American Woodcock
6:30–8:30 pm | Ages 7–11 w/Adult
Join us for an evening hike to view a most unusual and interesting courtship ritual. The male’s display is a series of peents, twitters, and chirps as he first prances on the ground and then spirals rapidly upward, circles and drifts down.

Sunday, March 20

Teen Series: Spring Wildlife Caretakers (1 of 3)wildlifecaretakers
12:30–3:30 pm | Teens
Join like-minded teens to gain hands-on experience in wildlife care and conservation. Over three sessions, teens will learn about the natural histories of many animal species and how we can protect them in the field and in captivity.

 

Spring Equinox Frolic
1–3 pm | Adults
Celebrate the spring equinox as the first flowers poke their heads above ground and the days get longer.

Wednesday, March 23

Bread and Bunnies (Waitlist)
2:30–5 pm | Ages 2+ w/Adult
Check out what the rabbits been up to—have they been sneaking into the root cellar and snatching carrots? What could they be doing—baking carrot bread?

Thursday, March 24

Woodcock Walk

Join us for an evening hike up the drumlin to view a unusual and interesting courtship ritual of American woodcocks.

 

Friday, March 25

Egg-citement (Waitlist)
10–11:30 am, 3:30–5 pm | Ages 2+ w/Adult
Come and celebrate the arrival of spring with an Egg Fest.  We will meet, greet and take care of chickens, examine eggs, and use natural materials to dye an egg to take home.
