After reading the post I called the number and pressed “2” for western Mass bird sightings. Although it was/is Jan. 11, 2020, the message said it was for “March 30 to April 5.” I work at a sanctuary and it would be so useful to be able to pass along the Voice of Audubon phone number to our visitors. Is it still being updated? Thanks for letting me know.

I wondered about the Northern Lapwing reported in your sightings, giving the location as Nasketucket State Reservation in Mattapoisett. The only sighting I know of was in the farm fields off Shaw’s Cove Road in Fairhaven which are kind of adjacent to the Nasketucket State Reservation.

Interesting post, and a great reminder of just one more way that Audubon helped–in two short generations–to move the general public from hunting and killing birds to spotting and appreciating them.
